System 3000 Concentrators [Bay Networks, Inc]

System 3 Concentrators integrate a variety of modular components toprovide multiple protocol connectivity, and internetworking and networkmanagement capabilities in a common, 19-inch rack-mountable chassis. Itsupports IEEE 802.3-compatible Ethernet, IEEE 802.5-compatible 4/16 MBToken Ring, and FDDI.Model 3 currently supports up to 12 System 3 modules that supportup to 264 Ethernet, 144 Token Ring stations 48 FDDI stations, or acombination of the three. Model 3 supports up to 4 System 3modules. A multiple bus architecture simultaneously supports Ethernet,Token Ring, and FDDI Networks under a SunNet manager-based managementsystem. System 3 host modules support 10 MB per second Ethernet overunshielded twisted pair (10BASE-T), shielded twisted pair, fiber-opticcable, or thin coaxial cable; 4 MB and/or 16 MB per second Token Ringover unshielded twisted pair or shielded twisted pair; and 100 MB persecond FDDI over fiber-optic cable and twisted pair.Integrated internetworking functions are provided by Local BridgeModules, Remote Bridge Modules, Local Router Modules, and Remote RouterModules.For asynchronous terminal connections, a 16-port terminal server moduleis available. LattisNet Network Management Modules also reside in theSystem 3 Concentrator.
